Director of Finance – Treasury

We have partnered with Accountant Staffing to recruit a Director of Finance – Treasury. This is a key leadership role overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, treasury and debt management, and regulatory compliance. The position also includes direct supervision of one and requires regular attendance at Council meetings to provide financial updates.

Key Responsibilities for the Job:

  • Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual budgets and long-term financial plans
  • Prepare accurate and timely financial statements 
  • Oversee treasury functions including cash flow, investments, revenue collection, and liquidity management
  • Manage debt, including policy development, refinancing strategies, and covenant compliance
  • Conduct financial analysis to support strategic decision-making and resource allocation
  • Establish and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets
  • Coordinate external audits and financial reviews
  • Develop and implement financial policies, procedures, and best practices
  • Support grant research and funding opportunities in collaboration with leadership
  • Oversee payroll processes (bi-weekly & monthly)
  • Supervise and mentor one direct report
  • Attend Council meetings and present financial updates

Experience & Attributes for Success:

  • University degree or College diploma in Accounting/Business
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive accounting experience; previous experience in a government setting is ideal
  • Demonstrated leadership and team management capabilities
  • Solid proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
  • Strong organizational, planning, and presentation skills
  • Valid New Brunswick driver’s license in good standing
  • Commitment to fostering a collaborative, team-based environment
