Position Summary
The Municipal Operations Worker is responsible for a wide range of physical tasks related to the maintenance, repair, and operation of municipal infrastructure, equipment, and recreational facilities. This includes work on roads, sidewalks, storm drains, ditches, parks, trails, cemeteries, and other municipal assets. The employee will also support arena operations during the ice season.
Responsibilities
The Municipal Operations Worker is responsible for a wide variety of tasks that support the operation, maintenance, and upkeep of municipal infrastructure, facilities, and equipment. Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Maintaining and repairing transportation infrastructure, including sidewalks, streets, storm drains, and ditches.
- Supporting the upkeep of recreational facilities such as pools, ballfields, parks, and trails (including mowing, lawn care, and trail maintenance).
- Performing mowing, brush control, and grounds upkeep at lagoons and cemeteries.
- Watering flowers and maintaining gardens, hanging baskets, and other public spaces.
- Emptying garbage receptacles and ensuring cleanliness of municipal spaces, including public washrooms.
- Cleaning, maintaining, and conducting preventative maintenance, including daily checks/first parades of trucks, tractors, tools, and other municipal equipment.
- Performing traffic control duties and ensuring public safety at worksites and municipal facilities.
- Carrying out snow removal, seasonal maintenance, and other assigned duties across municipal properties.
- Carrying out duties in the arena, to include but not limited to:
- Ice installation, removal, resurfacing, flooding, and moving hockey nets.
- Operating and maintaining arena equipment and mechanical systems (e.g., resurfacer, flooder).
- Cleaning dressing rooms, public washrooms, public areas, walls, windows, and floors.
- Answering phones, booking rentals, collecting fees, issuing receipts, and maintaining records.
- Monitoring and securing the facility to ensure readiness and public safety.
- Providing courteous, professional service to all user groups and visitors.
- Performing any other duties and tasks as may be directed in support of municipal operations.
This position may report to worksites and facilities in any location within the Municipality of Fundy Albert.
Qualifications
The successful candidate will hold a high school diploma (or equivalent GED) and a valid Class 5 New Brunswick Driver’s License with a satisfactory Driver’s Abstract. A clear Criminal Record Check is required. Candidates should have experience working around heavy machinery and be able to safely operate trucks, power tools, and equipment. Physical capability is essential, including lifting/moving up to 50 lbs, working at heights, and handling hazardous substances. The role demands adaptability to indoor and outdoor environments in varying weather conditions, as well as strong troubleshooting, communication, and teamwork skills. Previous municipal experience, traffic control certification, training in a skilled trade, or knowledge of specialized and heavy equipment are considered assets but not required.

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position with a normal work week of forty (40) hours, typically 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with a 30-minute unpaid lunch break. Hours may vary depending on operational needs, including evenings, weekends, and shift work, and overtime may be required. The employee may be assigned to any municipal facility or location within the Municipality of Fundy Albert.

Casual Administrative Assistant
The Village of Fundy Albert is seeking a reliable, professional, and service-oriented individual to join our administrative team as a Casual Administrative Assistant.
This position provides casual administrative support to municipal operations and may be called upon to assist during staff absences, busy periods, special projects, or as operational needs arise.
Position Summary
The Casual Administrative Assistant will provide front-line customer service and general administrative support to the municipal office. The successful candidate will assist residents, process routine inquiries, support records management, and perform general office duties in a professional and confidential manner. Training on internal processes will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
Responsibilities may include:
- Greeting residents and visitors in a courteous and professional manner;
- Answering phones, responding to general inquiries, and directing calls or messages as appropriate;
- Receiving payments and issuing receipts, where required;
- Assisting with filing, scanning, photocopying, data entry, and records management;
- Preparing correspondence, notices, forms, and other routine documents;
- Providing support for meetings, mail-outs, public notices, and municipal communications;
- Assisting with administrative tasks related to municipal services, permits, utilities, and general office operations;
- Maintaining confidentiality of municipal, employee, and resident information;
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
The preferred candidate will have:
- Previous administrative or office experience;
- Strong customer service and communication skills;
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail;
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office, email, social media platforms and basic computer applications;
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion;
- Experience in a municipal, public sector, or customer service environment would be considered an asset.
Working Conditions
This is a casual position with no guaranteed minimum hours. Hours of work will vary depending on operational requirements and may include coverage during regular municipal office hours.
Compensation
Compensation will be in accordance with the applicant’s level of skill and experience.

Director of Finance – Treasury
We have partnered with Accountant Staffing to recruit a Director of Finance – Treasury. This is a key leadership role overseeing budgeting, financial reporting, treasury and debt management, and regulatory compliance. The position also includes direct supervision of one and requires regular attendance at Council meetings to provide financial updates.
Key Responsibilities for the Job:
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of annual budgets and long-term financial plans

- Strong organizational, planning, and presentation skills
- Valid New Brunswick driver’s license in good standing
